While there have been a couple of scandals over the decades, for the most part today's poker rooms all run honest games. Since they make their profit off a 'rake fee' it's in their best interest to have players simply play as many hands as possible, which doesn't happen for long when odds are skewed or players are otherwise not given a fair deal.

Still, not all poker rooms are created equal - generally speaking the more players the better, it makes for more available tables at various betting ranges and buy-ins, bigger and better tournaments and (hopefully) more fish!
